In Cinemas: ›Harvest‹

Athina Rachel Tsangaris masterfully stages a parable about the trauma of modernity.

Seven days like a fever dream: in a village without a name, sometime in the Middle Ages. Former city dweller Walter Thirsk has lofty philosophical leanings, while the somewhat dim-witted lord of the manor, Charles Kent, indulges in indulgent, unrealistic plans for his village. When strangers suddenly arrive, the childhood friends are confronted with the intrusion of the outside world and try to come to terms with it somehow: the trauma of modernity.

In her first English-language film, Greek director Athina Rachel Tsangaris masterfully traces the painful fault lines of our present back to its beginnings - surreal and absolutely fascinating!

›Harvest‹ was shown at the 73rd IFFMH in 2024.
