Future Worlds – Science Fiction Stories from the Near Future (Discussion)

How close are we to the future? Science fiction is much more than just entertainment—it can also serve as a creative laboratory for finding solutions to current problems. Prof. Dr. Kai Focke, co-editor of the anthologies “Campus 2049” (2024) and “Smartokratie” (2026), uses the “Future Life” approach as an example to illustrate how futurology can draw on science fiction. The German-language short stories “Trust Your Eyes” by Kai Rohlinger and “Mysophobie” by Kai Focke offer literary insights into the near future. Friedhelm Schneidewind will moderate the evening, building a bridge between fiction and reality.
