“Imagine Futures!”: The future of our society is inconceivable without multilingualism, a wide range of backgrounds, and a variety of perspectives and spaces—but how open are we to it, and what are we willing to contribute? And who exactly is “we”?

In der Uraufführung von „Mama, bitte lern Deutsch“ nach dem Bestseller von Tahsim Durgun zum Intendanzstart von Bernadette Sonnenbichler steht die Lebensrealität postmigrantischer Gemeinschaften im Mittelpunkt. Diese Realität bringen in der partizipativen Inszenierung von FAUSTPreisträger Bassam Ghazi Heidelberger* innen mit internationalen Familiengeschichten, Mutter- und Fremdsprachen als persönliche Erfahrungen ein.

The world premiere of “Mama, bitte lern Deutsch” (Please Learn German, Mama), based on the bestseller by Tahsim Durgun and at the start of Bernadette Sonnenbichler’s tenure as artistic director, focuses on the lived reality of post-migrant communities. In this participatory production by FAUST Prize winner Bassam Ghazi, Heidelberg residents with international family histories bring their personal experiences with their native and foreign languages into the production.

In a panel discussion with cast members and guests, we will look at what is today and what could be tomorrow.
