Learning German – Shaping Democracy Together (I) (Introductory German Lesson)

As part of “Imagine Futures!”, the Goethe-Institut Mannheim invites you to explore the role of language in democratic participation. As part of the Goethe-Institut’s global network of 154 institutes in 100 countries, we draw on our many years of experience in teaching German as a foreign language.

The focus is on a free introductory German lesson: In 45-minute sessions at A2/B1 level, participants aged 16 and older can experience how even basic language skills can help them understand and discuss democratic topics and participate in shaping society. Qualified Goethe-Institut teachers will demonstrate in a practical way how language enables dialogue, engagement, and social participation. The event will take place at our fully accessible institute on the Mannheim Education Campus.

Advance registration is required.


Three introductory sessions:
2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm, each lasting approximately 45 minutes

Location: Goethe-Institut Mannheim, Lounge (2nd floor)

Age requirement: Teens and adults aged 16 and older; younger children are welcome and can take part in a craft activity during the sessions, but must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian.
