AT HOME IN THE WORLD!

For 75 years, the IFFMH has showcased films from across the globe and welcomed guests from every continent. Today, Mannheim and Heidelberg are vibrant, international cities; an openness to other cultures lies at the very heart of their identity. In this sense, too, our international festival is deeply rooted in the region. Our anniversary this year therefore includes a cinematic celebration of these two cities—without which our festival would be unthinkable. We are presenting four films created in our region that tell the story of its history, its landscapes, and its culture. Three of these gems of regional film history were produced around the time the festival was founded in 1952.
