Terence Davies’ autobiographical film, portraying the England of his childhood, tells a tender story about being different while growing up.

Liverpool in the 1950s: 11-year-old Bud grows up in a loving household. In his free time, he goes to the cinema whenever possible, discovering new horizons. These sanctuaries are the opposite of school with its strict Catholic teachings. More and more, the boy becomes aware that he feels different from his schoolmates.

An autobiographical and melancholy work that tells the story of growing up in a conservative environment. Mesmerizing images and music evoke a bygone Liverpool while the plot flows dreamily before our eyes.
