What happens when a man’s midlife crisis takes on unexpected dimensions – Ben Foster is Oscar-worthy in a psychological drama laced with black humor and Hitchcock references.

Rachel (Cobie Smulders, ›How I Met Your Mother‹) and Josh (Ben Foster) fulfill their dream of owning a home and move to the suburbs with their son. They’re not even finished unpacking all their boxes when they suddenly hear a huge crash in the front garden: a car has driven into a tree, the driver is dead and the passengers are seriously injured. The whole family struggles to process the dramatic experience – for Josh, however, it turns into a trauma with dramatic consequences. From then on, he becomes obsessed with the idea of saving the lives of other possible victims.

Stories in which someone from the outside invades your own four walls almost make up a cinematic genre of their own: the home invasion film. ›Sharp Corner‹ shifts the conflict into the psyche of a person, giving it tremendous new depth. Tense and emotional.
