Oscar winner Brendan Fraser steps into the lives of others as a professional surrogate. Warm-hearted, funny, and surprisingly profound!

An American in Tokyo: Phillip Vandarpleog (Brendan Fraser) has been living in the Japanese metropolis for years, working as an actor. Actually, not quite – he’s an extra. Mired in this lack of success, luck strikes in the form of a job offer from an agency that hires actors for real-life roles. From now on, he plays parts in other people’s lives – sometimes he’s a husband, at others a son or a brother, depending on what is needed. One day, he is hired to play the father of a little girl named Mia and begins to long for a real life of his own.

A touching dramedy about the quiet yearning for connection in our globalized world, where everything is possible but nothing is real. Or is it?
