“Vegetables are my meat” is the motto of this wonderfully animated puppet movie. A pig can’t get any cuter than this, and a car chase could hardly be more exciting.

One day Babs’ grandfather returns from America and gives her a very special birthday present: a cute piglet. Smitten at first sight, she names it Oink. Her mother, however, sets rules that Oink must follow in order to be allowed to stay. That is already enough of a challenge. But then there’s also increasing suspicions about the grandfather. After all, he abandoned Babs’ mother when she was a child. Can he really have changed for the better? Or has he returned because of the upcoming Sausage King competition? And is Oink in danger of being the victim of a dastardly plot?

Born in the Netherlands in 1973, Mascha Halberstad is an expert in animated film. She owns her own stop-motion studio. After numerous animations and short films, ›Oink‹ is her feature debut as a director. The film screened at this year’s Berlinale.
