An older woman falls in love with a younger man, causing a scandal. One of the most influential melodramas in film history.

Douglas Sirk was the undisputed master of Hollywood melodrama. In the 1950s, he authored several exceptionally expressive and intense works that set the style for the genre. This film captures the essence of melodrama and influenced generations of filmmakers. It tells the story of Cary (Jane Wyman), a widow who falls in love with her younger gardener Ron Kirby (Rock Hudson), much to the horror of her own children and friends. Faced with growing pressure, Cary decides to stop seeing Ron.

A tragic love story and a passionate indictment of the social morality and conformity of its time.
