We will talk about their attitudes, their commitments, their motivations, their entire body of work. And of course you, the audience, will be invited to ask any questions that might interest you.

Agnieszka Holland's biography has repeatedly intersected with historical turning points. Born in Warsaw in 1948, she studied in Prague in 1968. Around 1980, in parallel with the rise of the Solidarność movement, she made her first feature films, which were promptly banned by state censors. And even her newest film has faced a denunciatory campaign in Poland. Against this background, we will ask her: How does she approach the portrayal of history in her films? And why is the perspective of children and young people on the cruel chaos of the adult world always so important to her? ›Hitlerjunge Salomon‹, perhaps her most famous film, tells a story that is both German and Polish - its original title was therefore ›Europa Europa‹. So this is perhaps the most important question we will explore: How does Agnieszka Holland view the Europe of today?

Directly before the master class, you will have the opportunity to see Agnieszka Holland's refugee drama ›Green Border‹ in the same cinema. The film won an award in Venice and at the same time proved to be so controversial that the director had to receive personal security protection.
