A unique historical document is brought to life in this compelling film. An intimate drama full of impressive historical insights and human warmth.

A day in the life of photographer Peter Hujar, a prominent figure in New York’s arts scene in the 70s and 80s. In his own words, in conversation with writer Linda Rosenkrantz, who recorded the conversation.

This unique historical document is brought to life here on screen. We see Hujar (Ben Whishaw) describing his encounters with such legendary figures as Allen Ginsberg and Susan Sontag, but also talking about the financial challenges of being an artist in New York and indeed about the era in general. In the confined space of a Manhattan flat, we observe a warm and beautiful relationship.
