A junkyard in Tbilisi, two kooky characters, and a brilliant idea. Absurdly funny, brimming with adorable affection for humans, and wonderfully authentic, this Georgian comedy is a true discovery.

Gonga and Bart are the kings of the junkyard, always on the lookout for things to sell. As a livelihood it might be meagre, but it’s a lifeline, as Bart owes money to some nasty gangsters. When he and Gonga find crates full of metal crosses, they have an idea: to pimp them up with colored lights. As it turns out, the door-to-door business of selling electric religious paraphernalia does rather well, and the debt seems nearly paid off. Except that Bart gambles the money away at a casino.

A wild ride in a rusty Opel straight into the heart of the Georgian capital. Somewhere between nostalgia and keen observation, the film brings together Soviet charm, kitschy living rooms, singing toothless old people, and bored youngsters into an enchanting portrait of society – at once quirky and affectionate.
