The everyday madness of a hospital! This socially conscious drama, acclaimed by the international press, sees director Laura Wandel confidently follow in the footsteps of the Dardenne brothers.

Everything is constantly in motion. One emergency, one life-or-death decision after another. In between, dozens of small things to take care of. A regular day at the hospital, portrayed with striking authenticity and energy. From within the eye of the storm: nurse Lucy (Léa Drucker) faces a major dilemma. Rebecca is not allowed to stay with her young son Adam. This has been decided by the court. Only Lucy understands that mother and son must not be separated if Adam is ever to recover. What to do? How to decide amidst all the chaos?

Laura Wandel plunges us into a situation full of medical, legal, and moral conflicts. Similar to Petra Volpe’s Berlinale success ›Late Shift‹, we are granted an intimate look at an overburdened system and its dramatic reality – where people, try as hard as they might, sometimes can no longer do anything right.

Director

Laura Wandel is a Belgian director and represents a new generation of socially engaged filmmakers. Following her debut feature ›Playground‹ (2021), which screened at numerous international festivals and won awards at Cannes among others, she continues to live up to her promise with ›Adam’s Sake‹.
